Insurance, without the runaround

We check what your plan covers before your visit, and we tell you the number before anything is scheduled.

What happens before you come in.

When you book, the front desk asks for your plan name and member ID. We contact your insurer, confirm what the plan actually covers, and check what is left of your annual maximum for the year. That happens before your appointment rather than at the desk on the day.

If you are coming in for treatment rather than a checkup, you get the figure in writing first, with what your plan contributes already taken off. Nobody at this practice starts work on a tooth before you know what it costs.

Bring your insurance card or plan details to the first visit, along with a list of any medication you take. If you are not sure what plan you have, call us and we will help you work it out.

This is the current list. If yours is not on it, call and we will check it for you rather than turning you away.

Being listed here means we work with the carrier. What any individual plan pays depends on the plan itself, which is why we check yours before you come in.

In network, out of network, and why it is not the whole story.

In network means we have an agreement with the carrier on what treatment costs. Out of network does not mean your plan pays nothing. Many plans pay the same percentage either way, and some pay slightly less. The only way to know is to check your plan, which we will do before you book.

Treatment cost is a separate question from what a plan covers. Each of our service pages explains what drives the price of that treatment, and what a dental implant really costs goes through it in detail for the treatment people ask about most.

Questions about insurance

Do you take my dental insurance?
We work with the plans listed on this page, and we are happy to check any plan that is not on it. Call the office with your plan name and member ID and the front desk will tell you what your benefits cover before you book.
What if my plan is not on the list?
Come in anyway, or call first and we will check. Plenty of plans pay toward treatment at a practice that is not in their network, sometimes at the same rate. We will find out what yours does and tell you the number before you commit to anything.
Will you tell me what I owe before you start?
Yes. We check your benefits before the visit and go through the figure with you before any treatment is scheduled. If a plan turns out to cover less than expected, you hear that from us first, not from a bill afterwards.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Your insurance card or plan details, and a list of any medication you take. That is enough for us to check your benefits and treat you safely on the day.
What is an annual maximum, and why does it matter?
It is the most your plan will pay toward dental treatment in a year, and most plans have one. It matters when treatment runs across that limit, because sequencing part of the work into the next benefit year can change what you pay. We look at that with you rather than after the fact.
Do you see patients without insurance?
Yes, and a good number of our patients have no dental plan at all. Call the office and ask what a visit costs before you come in, and we will tell you plainly.
